eBlocs.com
PLEASE NOTE!! Do not contact the legitimate company of blocs.com concerning problems with eBlocs.com. blocs.com is NOT associated with them in any way! They are a software company that markets Home Manager, a program to help organize your computer records. They have been erroneously receiving emails from angry victims of eBlocs. Complaints against eBlocs should be issued to the eblocs.com website or, better yet, to http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp
It doesn't get much more annoying than this. Here we have a company trying to market their anti-spam, anti-spy, anti-popup programs through....you guessed it, popups, spam, and bogus scare tactics.
eBlocs are the makers of SpyBlocs, SpamBlocs, and PopupBlocs. SpyBlocs claims to remove adware and spyware (not block it as the name suggests), SpamBlocs claims to filter out 99% of spam email, and PopupBlocs claims to Destroy Pop-Up ads before they open, Manage which pop-up ads you want to see and which you don't, Increase your Internet Speed by reducing web clutter, Create a Black List of advertisers, and Kills unsolicited and aggressive ads. I find the latter amusing since it's exactly what they do in their marketing campaign.
I've personally only received one popup from this company but have received complaints from others who have received their popups, as well.
The popup I received was this:

So I decided to write this letter to eBlocs for more information:
I received a popup from your company today. It said you have detected spyware on my computer. Could you kindly send me documentation of just what spyware you think you've detected on my PC? I'd really like to know. I might even consider buying your product if you can send me the log you recorded that shows I'm infected, as you stated I was.
Oddly enough, I never received an answer from them.
I find it questionable for any company to deploy the same marketing methods they claim to protect people from.
SpyBlocs/eblocs.com is listed as a rogue program at http://spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm which states "aggressive, deceptive advertising; false positives work as goad to purchase; poor scan reporting; Ad-aware knockoff, same app as SpyDoctor, Spyinator, SpyKiller 2004, SpySpotter, & SpywareThis". There are also supporting links to documentation and other comments.
They are also listed as a bogus program here: http://pcpitstop.ibforums.com/axslinger/helpfiles/bogus.htm
At the time of this writing, there are 41 feedback comments for SpyBlocs on download.com....11 positive and 30 negative. http://www.download.com/3302-8022_4-10250032.html Definately not a good review.
At ZDNet's download review, they currently have a 67% negative rating: http://downloads.zdnet.co.uk/0,39025604,39068711s,00.htm
UPDATE: Since posting this page, I'm getting tons of email from people who say they are being ripped off by them. Apparently their programs don't work and even cause havoc on one's computer after installation. Also reports from people who have purchased their products and had their credit cards charged multiple times. I am also receiving a lot of reports that eBloc advertisements are hijacking people's browsers. Beware of this company and do not purchase their programs.
6-25-05 ALERT!! EBLOCS RENEWAL POLICY It seems that people who have purchased eBlocs in the past are now getting automatic "renewal" charges on their credit cards. I'm starting to get email complaints and suspect I'll see a whole lot more. Lurking in their TOS is the agreement for the subscription stating: "Upgrades and minor releases of the Software are free for one year from the original date of purchase. Subsequent upgrades and software releases are provided through the Network Dynamics Software Subscription Plan. All purchasers of the Software are automatically subscribed to the Plan and the original credit card will be charged automatically (or withdraw funds via electronic transfer from your checking account - depending on what payment method you are using). Payments are billed in advance at the beginning of the applicable year. The term of the Plan shall be for the twelve (12) month period beginning from the date of purchase of the Software. If not earlier cancelled, the Plan shall be renewed automatically for successive periods of one (1) year, unless either party provides written notice of its intention not to renew not less than sixty (60) days prior to the end of the then current term." and "As full consideration for ND's performance of its obligations under this Agreement Purchaser shall pay to ND a subscription fee equal to the original purchase price and any applicable sales, use, excise, or similar taxes. The fee is due on the anniversary date of the initial purchase or within thirty (30) days after Plan invoice date." Nowhere on their advertising page does it state that you are purchasing a subscription for one year only. The order form is vague concerning the agreement, stating only "1 Year Subscription - Free Support - Free Upgrades" but is located beneath other optional purchases, making it appear to be a separate optional feature. Near the bottom of the form in very small type, they state: "you also agree that you have read and understand the Terms and Conditions of the 1-year Subscription to SpyBlocs 6.0" While everyone should read the TOS before purchasing, SpyBlocs is banking on the fact that most people don't and deceiptively hiding or omitting the subscription agreement in their advertising and order form.
Portions of some of the emails I've received follow:
6-17-04 "eblocs has taken over my computer and I can't get rid of the pop-ups, ads, and claims that my computer is full of spyware. I have used McAffee, AOL, and Spybot Search and destroy programs to remove them. Nothing seems to be able to get rid of them."
6-22-04 "I purchased spyblocks from this company but never received e-mail conformation with activation code. I am now disputing the charge. They will not answer my e-mail."
7-3-04
"this company has installed some spyware on my pc, I haven't
tracked it yetI will. They are no better than the garbage they
pretend to protect you from."
8-9-04 Response to followup
inquiry: "eBlocs have not
responded in any way, but I expected no less. I've since removed
all their rubbish with Spybot Search and destroy."
7-7-04
"Well I fell for the free spy ware from spy blocs and
unloaded it to my computer. When I clicked scan it did
nothing. There was a warning that if I removed it something
would happen. I removed it. Well this small
font is one thing the other is I can no longer scan disk or def
rag my drives. So I clicked it back on and paid the
money. $54.90. I got the Axxeleragtor also. It
accelerates nothing. Also it tells me I have Windows
95. I have Windows. 98. I have had constant problems
with this computer since I did the spy bloc thing. My email
can be read but it is a mess. At one point my keyboard
didn't type. I never know if the computer will shut down
when I click it off or if I have to hit the modem button."
8-4-04 Response to followup
inquiry: "No I
was not contacted. My computer got so messed up that it
kept telling me It didn't detect a modem. My
son-in-law who is knowledgeable worked with it as at one
time I did get on line. It kept telling him the same
thing. But he got on line once also . I purchased a new
modem and he installed. Still we got the message that it
didn not detect a modem. I tried the web site you suggested
before I took it out to (name withheld). I didn't get
in. The end result is I called the credit card
company and told them to take it off my bill. They are
looking into the matter."
7-7-04 "Yes, I received the same popup; I too thought it was ironic. But as my former (free trial offer) popup blocker was expiring that day; I thought how perfect. So, I downloaded it. The add gives you the impression that eblocs is free. That you can get popup blocking, prevent spamming, and adware, etc. all for free. But as you can see, after I downloaded it and did the scan; in order to accomplish any of the above tasks; you have to purchase it. Well, bye, bye eblocs and all your other *blocs. Even if it ends up I have to purchase a spam blocker; believe me when I say; it wont be eblocs. I dont appreciate their misleading add; and the fact that I received it through what? Popup!!!"
7-12-04 "this stupid eblocs prog keeps hijacking my ie and auto-logging to the internet. my screen saver doesn't even get a chance to come on anymore. i have adaware and spybot s-d. neither one recognizes this pain in the butt prog."
7-12-04 "I paid them and now I can not get in touch with them to get my unlock code."
7-17-04 "I have purchased Spyblocs and got my activation code but I am not able to download eBlocs"
7-18-04 "my mother downloaded a free trial version, however i can't uninstall unless i purchase full version....what a stupid company ...... i won't puchase from a company that won't let me uninstall there program they are manipulating! do you know another way to rid them of my computer?"
7-22-04
"I got exactly the same popup ads as you did from eblocs,
but it was too late for me to know that ebloc was bogus. Since
the home web page was changed suddenly and the popup showed up
saying that my PC was infected by spyware, I clicked "down
load now" for free spyware scanner. I noticed that this
company is strange, so I stopped the installation. But I guess it
was too late because my PC does not startup any more. It tries to
starts up with the safe mode but it cannot. The characters on the
screen are unreadable."
8-4-04 Response to followup
inquiry: "I have
not been contacted because my PC is in repair and the internet
access is limited very much. The computer expert who is fixing my
PC said it was broken because of a virus. He said he needed more
time to investigate the reason, which is why my PC is still
there. eBlocs has not contacted me because I did not contact
them. (I just brought my PC to an expert since I could not do
anything...) After it is fixed, I should contact them."
7-23-04
"I just read your write up on eblocs. This is so upsetting
to me, because you just confirmed my biggest fear....that I
have been scammed. I bought the spybloc program for $29.95
and they charged my credit card 5 times. I have written to
them over and over and never gotten any response."
8-4-04 Response to followup
inquiry: "They have offered
no assistance or responses at all. If you have a phone number for
them, I would love to have it, so that I can speak to someone in
person."
7-24-04
"I'm glad (although through unfortunate circumstances) that
I'm not the only one
feeling ripped off by eblocs! I purchased their Spyblocs
program and my computer went nuts. Programs wouldn't
function, I got "fatal exceptions" everyday, my
computer would just plain crash on a regular basis. I sent
them a complaint through their "support" function and
received no or lousy responses. The last one said
"Read the refund policy on the terms of service
page." Their policy is that they will exchange the
software I bought for another of their software. Why in the
world would I want another of their programs when the first one
wreaked so much havoc?"
8-4-04 Response to followup
inquiry: "I was
told to "Read the terms of the Agreement" regarding
refund policy. The policy is you don't get a refund, you
get your choice of their other software programs as a
replacement. Why would I want another of their software
when the first one practically wrecked my computer?
Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for following up!"
8-21-04 NOTE: This person has
reported that they were refunded in full by eBlocs after several
complaint emails.
7-26-04 "has anyone figured out yet how to kill the SpyBlocs pop-up add dead on an XP system? I tried to remove reference to it from the registry but it still pops up. Grateful for any help!"
7-29-04 "Hey there, I purchased eblocs spybloc today for 39.95 and now I cant download it. Im not able to contact the company because the download address they gave me is showing up as not a web site. The web site was http://www.eblocs.com/downloads/spyblocs.exe it doesnt work. They already have ran my credit card what should I do?"
8-9-04
"I, too, have been ripped off by this company. After
thinking it was a free trail I downloaded and let it scan my
computer. It came up with a lot of stuff. Then I discovered I had
to pay to get rid of all of that. I was freaked by what they
found and I paid to get the version to remove all of that. I then
started having all sorts of problems that I didn't have
before."
8-26-04 Response to followup
inquiry: "He
never did respond to me, but I disputed the charge to my bank
since I used my debit card. They have given me back my money
while they investigate."
8-11-04
"I just read the testimonies of others from your web site
and i too have been scammed by eblocs. Just as others have
written i to attempted to purchase software from this company
only to have my credit card double billed and never received a
confirmation thus rendering the product UNUSABLE!!! Sure wish i
would have visited your site prior to my attempted purchase!! I
have filed a complaint with the FTC and the credit card company.
Is there anything else i can do to help stop these thieves from
ripping off others in the future?"
8-25-04 Response to followup
inquiry: "Just a
quick update. I did receive a refund for one of the charges to my
credit card but was told that I would still be charged for the
other. I have only received one response from eblocs after
numerous unanswered emails. Still no activation code. Program
still unusable! I even emailed Gary Guseinov and still no
response! I have notified the BBB, FTC, Attorney General of
California, Attorney General for the State of Texas, Mastercard
credit card fraud services and the Internet Fraud Complaint
Center. This process is time consuming but feel it is
necessary to stop this company from ripping off others and
causing computer havoc. Please pass along this info and encourage
others to report to all available agencies as I have and maybe we
can make a difference as to how eBlocs conducts future business.
As for me, I will continue to seek help from any and all agencies
and will pass along updates to your readers. The following is the
link to the IFCC. Good place for your readers to start."

8-13-04
"I was so glad to find your web site. I am in the midst of a
terrible experience with Eblocs and was trying to find out where
I could leave feedback. I only wish I had looked BEFORE I
purchased their spware software. I have already filed a complaint
with the FTC and with my credit card company. I would personally
love it if Gary Guseinov would contact me. I have been trying to
get more than just an 'open ticket' on their web site for almost
2 weeks. I was able to download spyblocs and run the scan. When I
went to 'clean' the files, however, the program terminated about
75% through the process. I contacted Eblocs support through their
'ticket' system and after 2 days finally received a one sentence
response that I must not have enough resources. Now, how a
company who has no additional information on my computer or
operating system can make that blanket statement I have no idea.
Their tech support people must be reading out of a manual and
have no real idea how things run. So, I checked resources,
running at 95%, checked Microsoft for any Windows updates,
uninstalled and then reinstalled the software, called Microsoft
and Dell to verify my resources were free enough to run
the program and still the same problem. Finally, after
jumping through all of those hoops I received the final feedback
from them that 'it's my resources' and they will exchange the
program with another one. My response was good riddence. I have
refused charges on my credit card and advised Eblocs of this and
that I am not interested in any other of their programs since if
they cannot offer support for one program why should I have
confidence with them for another. They are truly an unreliable
and fraudulent company. I bought their software to make my
life easier. Instead all I have gotten is an additional
headache."
8-27-04 Update: "Just wanted to give you a quick
update. I requested a refund from Eblocs and was, of course,
denied. They fought the request to my credit card company to deny
payment. I also e-mailed Gary and, while I never received
any reply from him or Eblocs, I did learn today from my credit
card company that I had received a credit from Eblocs. Don't
think I would have been that fortunate had I not found your site.
Thanks!!"
8-18-04 "I've searched all over the internet, but no matter what I do, I can NOT find a way to remove this blasted Adware that Spyblocs has implanted deep within my computer. I've tried Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, McAfee, nothing seems to work. I need some sort of help here. Ads for SpyBloc pop up at a constant rate, and it interferes with my computing needs."
8-19-04 "I cannot get rid of eblocs popups galore it really is annoying!"
8-23-04 "My employer received a pop-up from eblocs and now he can't do anything on his computer. He says is just goes in circles. From his new home page of eblocs, which he did not select, to pop-ups and order forms to purchase eblocs! He was about to buy the spyware program, when he asked me about it and I found your website! Thank goodness you were there to warn him! He did however already enter his credit card information on their pop-up sell sheet, but then a "spyware" program kicked him off line. He is bringing his CPU to work to see if I can get eblocs off, any advise?"
8-26-04 "I made the mistake of purchasing their software and never received a download, I have contacted them 6 times by e-mail and once by fax. I have not received any answer. My credit card company has given me credit, but I am sure that once they see the refund policy of this trash company, I will have to pay it. I guess I was lucky not to get a download. I did have to have my PC cleansed of a mysterious virus."
8-31-04 "I have been issued a notebook, having just starting a new role and the machine is infected with eblocs adware. After trying spybot and adware, I can not isolate this pest, do you have any info on how to get rid of the eblocs adware?"
9-3-04 "Wow, This site is very informative. I just downloaded SpyBloc myself and felt uneasy about it, so I uninstalled it and did a little research. Was it ever an awakening. Thank you for your site. I hope I don't have future problems because of the former download."
9-4-04 "Someone HAS to crack down on these scammers!!! Ive had to re-install windows 3 times now because of Eblocs. Its obviously a virus/adware that has to be destroyed and actions of those people who create such things have to be stopped."
9-6-04 "Hello. First of all, sorry for my poor English. But the point is my PC is infected by eBlocs ads. Please help me to know how can I delete it from HD. None of major anti-virus softwares could do that. Anti-trojans or adware fail as well. Do you have any software that does it? Thanks a lot."
9-18-04 "I enjoyed reading your comments about eBlocs.com and their spyware products. We have an unusual issue with them, as we have had our site (BLOCS.com) for many years, and have recently been receiving emails from outraged customers who turn out to have been eBlocs customers. They want their money back, and some cannot reconcile that we are NOT eBlocs. If you have any suggestions as to how we might disentangle ourselves from them, I would appreciate it. Otherwise we shall just go on sympathsizing with those who are eBlocs victims."
9-24-04 "I would like to know how to get this off of my computer? My credit card has already paid, so I guess that is just the cost of expierence. Thanks for any help you can give."
9-25-04 "I purchased spyblocs, and am here to tell you it doesn't do anything that it is supposed to. I still have eanthology, itopmoxie, ect. that I can't get off my computer. This is bogus. I wish to get a refund, but somehow can't get in contact with them."
10-16-04 "I have been had also. It's a shame that the yoyo's hide and you can't get your hands around their necks. I want to help catch these characters if these services will do anything about it. Also I intend to try to get my money back (good luck). Do they have any such program that will do what they claim eblocs will do that is legitimate?"
10-19-04 "I cant get rid of Spyblocs v 2.0 and I have no idea what to do. Ive tried to remove it via uninstall and delete its track but . HELP please. Thanks!"
10-21-04 "hello I purchased the lousy spyblocs it doesn't work and the web site they gave me is no web site, this is making me angry at this software vendor. They should not be in bussiness, they're making a lot of customers very angry, they're ripping off us innocent people who were suckered in buying their spyblocs."
11-1-04 "How do I get this damn spybloc off my computer...any attempt to delete the last 2 .exe files denies me access...It's infuriating! Any help would be greatly appreciated!"
11-22-04 "It would appear that I am another party to be scr............... by eblocs. In attempting to cancel SpyBloc 3 (after my computer crashed) they have not responded to [2] e-mail requests for RMA number. Can not find a vaible telephone number for ebloc."
12-8-04 "Just wanted to write to thank you for your informative site on eblocs.com. My father also got a yellow alert e-mail and it kept poping up very day for like ten days and of course he thought something was wrong with the computer and followed the free download. Come to find out once they got their credit card bill they were charged 9 times by eblocs. I was so disturbed by this and advised my parents to call their credit cards and advise not to pay. As I was researching why this happened and came upon your website, my father said he got the yellow alert e-mail that you had on your site. I e-mailed eblocs and advise to call me to resolve the multiple charges and nothing has come of it yet. I already e-mailed FTC with my complaint against eblocs.com. What else do you think I should do to help my parents regarding this matter. this matter really makes me angry that such businesses exist."
12-15-04 "This company is dangerous. It is scary that they have so many credit card numbers. I am fortunate that their access code didn't work. Have been trying since 11/24 to get my $39.95 back. Have contacted FTC & BBB so far and intend to contact everyone I can to stop these people. Put a refuse to pay on my credit card. They haven"t answered a single email, of which I have sent many."
12-28-04 "I also got ripped off by this guy over the last week! He got me for the 39.99 deal. Although it is only $39.99, he tested the wrong persons resoIve. I WILL find this scam artist as I have very little tolerence for this type of fraudulant activity and quite a bit of time on my hands. Do have anymore information related to where I can find this guy (in person)? I would like to talk to him face to face. I would appreciate it."
1-18-05 "I unfortunately have also been a victim of this rogue anti spy-ware product and wanted to 1) relay my experience and 2) ask for any advice as to how I can try to fix the problem. The eBlocs people accessed my internet explorer in the exact same fashion as some of the other perturbed users have expressed to you: I first had my internet explorer hijacked by a blank page called "Access Blocked - Virus Warning" and the short description below it proceeded to claim they had detected spy-ware on my PC and that in order to fix my problem, i need to purchase SpyBlocs 6.0. I foolishly went ahead and purchased their product using my credit card for $39.99. Ever since, the problems have not been fixed and i fear/suspect maybe causing other damage. Keeping in mind that your web page has already been very helpful in providing some information about this fiasco, I have a couple of questions and would be grateful for any advice/input you can provide. 1) Is my credit card now in danger since I have used it once for this product? Should i let my credit card know about this? 2) Now that the wretched SpyBlocs is installed on my computer, what can i do to fix the problem? I already foolishy bought their product and am afraid to take any other rash steps that may further the problem. Can you direct me to a source i can consult to get rid of this problem? By the way, on your urging, I have also filed complaints against Network Dynamics with the IFCC and the FTC. Thank you in advance for your support and any advice you can provide."
2-17-05 "I too have had troubles with e-blocs. Their product is a waste and their customer service department is non-existent. (credit card name) refuses to reverse my $29.95. Thanks for the crusade"
2-18-05 "Thank you for your information posting on eblocs. I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to get my problems resolved. In my case, none of my web site requests have been answered and I was unable to track using the numbers they provided, and then couldn't log on either. I only use 3 different passwords, so I was really surprised that none of them worked. Needless to say, I could have made a mistake so I requested my "lost" password - 5 xs. Each time their site said it had been emailed, but I never received it. But now, after reading your posting, I am wondering. I have gotten spyware even though spybloc's was supposed to have a shield up. They never responded to my questions so, I just let it go."
5-12-5 "Can you tell me how to get this stupid spy blocs off my computer?? I would really appreciate the help. It has messed my new pc up so bad."
5-18-05 "Are you still collecting information about Eblocs? I would like you to warn your reader to file a ripoff report at www.ripoffreport.org as well as keep reporting them to the BBB. What they are doing now is wrong and they are scamming millions of people of their money!"
5-27-05 "I too was taken by eblocks. The software did not work, and the company never replied to emails or telephone calls."
6-22-05 "I ran into all the same issues as many others have listed on your site regarding EBLOCS. I finally had the charges removed by the credit card company last summer. Well guess what, EBLOCS - or Network Dynamics Corp just sent me a renewal notice and automatically was charging my credit card for Spyblocs 6.0. I did not approve this and last year EBLOCS was told that no further charges could be may by them against my card. Needless to say, they are trying anyway."
6-24-05 "Last year I was infected by some nasty CWS spyware. I panicked and purchased eBlocs (before finding AdAware). It did not help me (neither could Adaware handle it). Eventually I found a manual method on the Web to remove the spyware. I now come to find out that EBlocs have charged my credit card again for an "update" i never ordered. And they do not provide any way to contact or call them except a fax number. So beware: they keep your credit card info on file and reuse it without permission."
The CEO of eBlocs is Gary Guseinov.
eBlocs claims to be endorsed by the National Do Not Email registry. That's not surprising, since nationaldonotemail.com is owned by the same company that owns eblocs.com, Network Dynamics LLC, and Gary Guseinov is their chief executive. Of course he would endorse himself. Also not surprising is that nationaldonotemail.com is just a mirror site for eBlocs.
UPDATE: I recently received an email from Gary Guseinov, CEO of eBlocs.
Contact information is Brooke Halpin of Halpin House West PR, +1-310-456-3346, or+1-310-702-6300, hhwpr@earthlink.net, for Eblocs.com
Gary Guseinov stated that because I have posted the contact information of Brooke Halpin, they have been receiving spam. However, this information was readily available on the web prior to my posting, even on their own site: http://www.nationaldonotemail.com/activexpr.html and a list of links containing the contact information on http://www.networkdynamicscorp.com/news.html
His specific request was "I suggest that you remove defamatory statements about Eblocs.com from your site immediately and please remove the contact info for Brook Halpin because of your site we are now getting spam." I fail to understand how my posting of contact information which has already been posted at least 14 times on other sites can be pinpointed as the one generating spam email? I interpret this to mean that he only wants contact info for his company posted on "good" articles and not "bad" ones. Also, I'm assuming that he means those contacting eBlocs from my site with complaints about their products are labeled as "spam" emails.
Gary also informed me that eBlocs.com has responded to every one of their customers, whose emails I have posted here. However, the portions of these emails shall remain posted, as they are true and accurate correspondences received by me. Further, I will contact each of these persons again as a followup and inquire as to whether they have been contacted by eBlocs. Also, Gary made no mention that these people were assisted, given advice, or given refunds. He has only stated that they have been responded to. Responses for an update request from these people will be displayed beneath their original emails with a "response" heading in red.
Previously I had posted the address of eBlocs as:
eBlocs
1875 Century Park East Suite 700
Century City, California 90067
United States
However, Gary has informed me that this is incorrect and that their address is:
Network Dynamics Corp.
12121 Wilshire Blvd, #305
Los Angeles, CA 90025
Which is the contact information on both eBlocs.com and networkdynamicscorp.com.
But a whois lookup on nationaldonotemail.com, which they also own, resolves to this address:
nationaldonotemail.com
Network Dynamics LLC
I Barash
1875 Century Park East - Suite 700
Century City, CA 90067
US
Phone: 310-407-5408
Email: info@networkdynamicscorp.com
So it's a little confusing as to where they're really located.
Gary also informed me that his company does not use scare tactics, yet I personally received a popup (screen shot above) that stated I was infected with spyware with a link that resolved to eBlocs.com. Amazing that my legitimate anti-virus and anti-spyware programs don't pick up any problem files on my system yet Gary's little popup is so technologically advanced that it can detect spyware where these legitimate programs can't?!
