spywarehelp.net (aka odysseusmarketing.com)
This has got to be one of the biggest jokes I've seen so far. spywarehelp.net totes themselves as the AAA service of the internet, there to educate people and protect them from harm for only $19.95 a month. That's right, for $240 a year, they promise to keep you from all harm. Their clients are instructed to purchase and download only anti-spyware and security programs that spywarehelp recommends. They caution their clients not to use free anti-spyware tools. They promise round the clock 24/7 tech support (and if you're dumb enough to sign up for their service, believe me you'll be needing some tech support....lots of it).
It gets better...they market themselves through browser hijacks on the default-homepage-network server (http://default-homepage-network.com/newspynotice.html) which contains a link to spywarehelp.net. Isn't hijacking one's browser, then offering paid protection against browser hijacking considered extortion?
So who are these people? Look at their contact page to find out:
The Spyware Help Network
8721 Santa Monica Blvd #409
Los Angeles CA 90069-4507
Phone: (213)947-1271
Now before going any further, go visit Walt Rines' website, http://www.odysseusmarketing.com and read what he's all about. Then look at Walt's contact page:
Odysseus Marketing, Inc.
8721 Santa Monica Blvd #409
Los Angeles CA 90069-4507
Phone: (213)947-1271
Quite a coincidence, huh? And what does Odysseus Marketing do? Well, in their own words:
"How does the OMI "Internet Enhancement Pak" Affiliate Program work?
After you have signed up you are given a code to place on all the pages you wish to promote the OMI "Internet Enhancement Pak" on. When one of your visitors enters the page he will see an Active X console just like the one on your right.
If the user clicks yes and installs our small software client (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD), they will have an account created on our server. This is considered a RAW install. When the user client application next checks in with our server to pull down any apps and updates SUCCESFULLY (normally 24-36 hours later), they become a VALIDATED INSTALL and you are credited 1 install worth an INDUSTRY LEADING $0.30!! NO ONE PAYS THIS MUCH! It's as simple as that. You can also customize how your users are prompted to maximize your installs/downloads, depending on the way you choose to go, so you're sure to convert your traffic into big cash!
Certain conditions apply, please read Terms for full details.
What is the OMI "Internet Enhancement Pak" Affiliate Program?
The "Internet Enhancement Pak" is a small piece of client software that sits on the client PC and downloads various components designed to enhance the user internet experience by providing contextually relevant marketing, competitive offers, and free enhancements to the user surfing experience via various advertising mediums, including banner advertisements, search bar enhancements and tools, and relevant popup or popunder messages. The software can also easily be removed by visiting the uninstall web page at any time."
Am I missing something here? This pusher of a program that, once installed on someone's computer, continues to download adware onto the user's computer is the same company that is trying to sell protection from adware on another site? I strongly suspect that Walt's program, Internet Enhancement Pak, is another name for ClientMan or MessageBroadcaster.
So take a good long look at spywarehelp.net and ask yourself, would you pay these people for protection, these same people who are selling a program that will sit on your computer and download adware, popups, banners, toolbars, and alter your search engines?
For an indepth look at the man behind spywarehelp.net, just visit http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,1367,60714-2,00.html?tw=wn_story_page_next1 Truly amazing that one of the biggest adware pushers and spyware creators in the world is now pretending to help people get rid of it on the side.
Read carefully spywarehelp.net's claimed intentions:
The Spyware Help Network is a members-only service and support site dedicated to providing top notch service and support to help all members locate and eradicate spyware on their PCs, as well as keep them from being infected in the future. We offer 24/7 tech support via live chat plus interactive forum, and feature free downloads of diagnostic tools and effective anti-spyware software.
And read carefully odysseusmarketing.com's intentions:

Read both carefully because the words are coming from the same mouth.
For further proof and documentation that these sites are owned by the same company, visit http://www.webhelper4u.com/scams/spywarehelp.html
This site http://www.associateprograms.com/search/Electronics/software/index13.shtml quotes the following statement:
"The
Spyware Help Network Rate It
[ 0.00 / 0 Votes ]
95% of all PCs are infected with Some type of Adware or Spyware,
and no single program or software can remove them all. Only by
joining the Spyware Help Network will you receive all the
software, tools, and live technical support needed to Ffully
eradicate spyware from your PC, and keep it that way. Affiliates

SpywareHelp.net."
So Walt Rines, owner of Odysseus Marketing, the man who claims to be behind the ClientMan parasite, and owner of many other nuisance programs and websites that infect computers with adware, now seems to be heading up spywarehelp.net.
